Miami-Dade AHEC (Area Health Education Center), Inc is a private 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, not a government agency, and we rely on the contiributions of individuals donors, sponsorships, and grants to fund our community programs and services.

Since 1987, Miami-Dade AHEC has played a critical role in increasing access to health care services for our most vulnerable, and marginalized residents and in providing innovative preventive health programs for children and adults in the community.  In the past year alone Miami-Dade AHEC has provided over 89,000 services to individuals by:
  • Partnering with the community and academic institutions to increase and enhance community health care at free clinics providing 153,000 patient services in the past four years.

  • Creating community-based health care initiatives and offering health education programs such as PHASES (our school health education program) and the Workplace Wellness Programs.

  • Providing continuing education and resources for health care professionals in underserved areas. Download program brochures for May 2008

  • Recruiting health care professionals to work with vulnerable populations through such programs as our Pre-Health Summer Internship Program.
