Forensic Evaluation and Juvenile Justice - REGULAR
This workshop will address the legal, clinical, and administrative issues related to evaluating children who are involved in the juvenile justice system. Reviewed in this day long workshop are the law and clinical practices related to assessing children whose competence to proceed is questioned. Upon completion of this workshop, participants may request to be placed on the DCF Referral List.

Objectives At the conclusion of this workshop participants can:
1 Describe the operation and stages of the juvenile justice system.
2 Identify legal and ethical contours of forensic evaluations.
3 Identify what capacities Florida law requires of a juvenile to move forward with the legal process.
4 Identify the characteristics of juveniles whose competence to proceed is raised as an issue, as well as the characteristics of juveniles who are ultimately adjudicated incompetent to proceed.
5 Describe how adolescent development should be considered when assessing a juvenile’s competence related abilities.
6 Identify appropriate techniques to employ when assessing the competence related abilities of juveniles.
   
Who Should Attend?
ANYONE who is interested in attending a program, regardless of topic, is welcome to attend!
